SERVICE DESCRIPTION


The remote three-dimensional modeling service of complete projects on different formats helps companies to carry out or complete technological innovation processes. Whether from paper, from 2D or from another three-dimensional CAD system, the service allows you to receive a data archive coherent with the chosen technology, thus helping your research and development department, which will be able to concentrate on modifying and reusing what has already been designed.

In addition to solid modeling, it is possible to combine the Drafting service, to obtain not only the updating of the project, but also obtaining a two-dimensional product documentation completely compliant with the original, but connected to the parametric 3D model.

 
 

SOLID MODELING

We could summarize solid modeling as a type of modeling which goes straight to the final result, no matter how this result is achieved. This type of modeling is the fastest, but also the simplest and it is suitable for the documentation of already executed projects or for marketing / rendering / virtual reality purposes. On the other hand, this type of modeling does not facilitate a project variation.

SOLID - PARAMETRIC

This type of modeling is done by taking into account the main factors (parameters) that govern the model, allowing - especially as regards the details - the consistent modification of the values ​​within certain limits. Parametric modeling is recommended if you plan to reuse the project or part of it, as it makes it partially easily to modify
 

HYPER - PARAMETRIC

We go beyond the normal parametric modeling with the use of advanced features such as: families of parts and / or assemblies; the highly resilient elements, with preconfigured positioning and context-based deformations; and optimizations for large assemblies and interactions between the mechanical world and BIM. This type of modeling precedes what is the "Configuration" design automation service.

DIMENSIONING OF THE R&D DEPARTMENT

The current R&D department of Italian companies are often correctly sized or undersized for the normal productivity workload, but they are for sure not oversized. This implies that to carry out other tasks such as an innovation project - without negatively impacting company operations - it is necessary to add personnel who must first be trained. Outsourcing the project allows obtaining results in less time, with a high-quality level and with costs that do not exceed the project.

The service allows you to clearly define roles, with our expertise in the use of information and instrumental technologies in general, and a strong mandate of relevance to what is expressed in the original documentation. This service can be combined with an engineering service which allows you to obtain changes to the project - maximizing efficiency - as the operations are carried out by specialized personnel with specific characteristics, each in their own area of ​​expertise.

PDM / PLM FRIENDLY COLLABORATION

Thanks to the one-to-one correspondence of the 2D technical drawing in any format it has been developed, we will develop its 3D counterpart enriched with the metadata present on the title block; therefore, what we produce will naturally find its place next to the 2D table stored in the document management system. Everything without the need to reserve codes or open the use of internal tools such as PDM / PLM to external designers.
 
 

SUPERIOR QUALITY

The result obtained with the modeling service is the outcome of in-depth knowledge of both the 3D CAD tool and the parameterization concepts that allow users of the R&D department to be faster in the process of changing the project itself.

THE COSTS OF THE SERVICE


 
 

ITALY: AVERAGE COST

The service is provided by Italian personnel, qualified as a mechanical technician with years of experience in the field of mechanical drafting. Alongside the preparation in mechanics, there is an in-depth knowledge of technical drawing tools; in this way the same operators are suitable also for training the CAD instrumentation in companies which already use the same systems. This choice allows us to keep the promise of high productivity already mentioned above.

GLOBAL SYNERGIES

For particular company price needs - and compatibly with the client's non-disclosure agreement - we can offer the development of modeling abroad with "finishing" and quality control operated in the Italy. This approach is possible for assignments with an important volume of work to be carried out and in any case - in terms of quality - it is never recommended compared to the solution totally carried out in Italy.
 
 

CUSTOMIZED QUOTATION

To determine the quotation, a first commercial meeting is essential to verify the technical need and to deal with the economic constraints; thus trying to provide the most suitable solution for the customer. As far as operations are concerned, the first contract usually includes a couple of days in which the customer's compatibility with the service provided is checked.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


 
 

A) Who is the service aimed at?
The service is aimed at small, medium and large companies. Over time, we had positive feedback from customers of various kinds. From the small company that contacts us for the single machine; to customers who - during a technology change, want to "translate" the CAD archive into the new system; up to the combination of this service with the DRAFTING one, in order to obtain, not only the models, but also drafting very similar to the original ones, which however are linked to the 3D models.

B) Is the Service carried out on site or remotely?
The service is carried out remotely, except for a couple of initial days of requests improvement and of the requested design "style". An on-site service is also possible but we no longer speak of a specific service as in this case, but of "Training on the job". Although the difference seems only semantic, there are two important aspects to take into consideration: firstly the transfer cost, and secondly the higher costs due to the need to send personnel with a "Senior" qualification.

C) Can I send the models to direct production?
No. The models must first be checked, possibly adjusted and then approved by internal staff. These three phases are responsibility of the customer's R&D department, both because it is normal and duty that there are those who do and then those who check and subsequently those who approve; and because we cannot replace the customer company in assuming responsibility for what is sent to production.

D) Are my data safe?
Yes. We adopt various strategies to give the greatest guarantee in this regard, including:
D.1 A non -disclosure Agreement (aka NDA) with which we undertake not to disclose,
D.2 We work preferably by the day, not by the hour, so not mix the works
D.3 We preferably work on virtual environments, so once the batch is delivered we delete the virtual machine
D.4 On request we also delete what has been acquired and returned.

E) At the same time, I need modify also...?
It is possible only by combining the Modeling service with an engineering service, provided by external offices. In this way the modeling is carried out first with relative approval of the result, and then we move on to the engineering work; thus obtaining a reduction in costs compared to entrusting everything to the engineering service. As for the modeling service itself, this does not foresee any kind of deviation from the original project.

F) Are references available?
Yes, of course, if necessary, we can let you speak directly with some of our customers, after prior verification of the customer's availability.

G) Do all three types of modeling have the same cost?
Yes, if we mean by cost the hourly cost. Unfortunately, they have very different costs in terms of productivity: solid modeling is a very rapid process compared to parametric modeling and even more if compared with hyper-parametric modeling.

H) When is simple solid modeling recommended?
H.1 As Built: detection of what exists for documentation purposes, not reverse engineering;
H.2 Libraries of components produced by third parties, but if you use a Parametric CAD we warmly recommend our dedicated service "Library" or even "Configurator"
H.3 When the company uses direct modeling CAD such as AutoCAD also in 3D, Creo Direct, Fusion 360 in direct mode, etc ...;
H.4 When you have extremely clear ideas about a "to order" project and therefore it will presumably not be replicated.

I) When is parametric solid modeling recommended?
This type of modeling is the most flexible as it combines good productivity with a fair ease of modification and the use of not too complex techniques. Therefore, indicated for:
I.1 Any project that must be changed at a later stage;
I.2 Conversions of archives for companies that have adopted parametric drawing tools;
I.3 Reverse engineering of products that need to be modified;
I.4 Modeling carried out for the purpose of FEM optimization analysis, usually with FEA packages integrated into the CAD system;
I.5 Prototypes in general.

J) When is hyper parametric solid modeling recommended?
This type of modeling is recommended for high-use projects:
J.1 Companies that develop catalog products of various sizes and similar shapes;
J.2 Products that can be changed by replacing some components;
J.3 Components that must be reused several times and must be easy to position
J.4 Companies in which the R&D team develops products then used by the designers who work on the development of orders.
